Akiko Endo (1947–) says that in the fifty-odd years since she became a painter, not a single day has gone by when she has not held a brush. Running through all her work is the theme of human beings—her paintings are like modern epic tales.

This book brings together around eighty paintings from Endo’s early career through to 2020, including the early Paradise series; the Street series, which triggered her breakthrough; and a group of giant works measuring more than 2 by 3 meters.
