Taking “restoration of the sea” as its slogan, the Setouchi Triennale began in 2010 in an effort to revitalize the island communities of the Seto Inland Sea through art. The 2019 iteration took place over 107 days on twelve island locations, with 230 artists and artist units participating from thirty-two countries.
