For some three decades now Banksy’s art has been popping up in his home area of Bristol and other places around the world. Hardly any of those works, however, survive today in their original location, due in part to the fleeting nature of street art and in part to the incredible celebrity of their creator. What is the “proper” course to take in regard to these creations—to have art dealers carry them off in the name of conservation (i.e., storage and sale), or to simply leave them to be painted over by fellow graffiti artists?
This richly illustrated book documents fifty major now-lost works by Banksy and how they came to no longer be. It’s a guide to Banksy of a kind that has—surprisingly enough—never been attempted before.
This is the Japanese edition of a book published in the United Kingdom in 2025 by B.T. Batsford Limited.
