For sixteen years from 1912, Raoul Dufy (1877–1953)—a master of color famed for his oils of musical motifs and the social scene and other works suffused with joie de vivre—contributed designs to the Lyon-based silk manufacturer Bianchini-Férier. The bold hues and vivid motifs of his fabrics captivated the upper class, quickly becoming a phenomenon. This collection brings together some 150 works and items related to the artist, including paintings, design drawings and drafts, original textiles, and dresses made from reproductions of his fabrics.
