Kyotographie: the twelve-year evolution of Japan’s premier international photography festival.

The Kyotographie International Photography Festival transforms iconic sites in Kyoto—temples, shrines, traditional wooden townhouses, historical landmarks—into vibrant exhibition spaces. Trace the birth and evolution of the festival in this volume recounting its history over twelve years, or one complete cycle of the East Asian zodiac. A rich collection of essays and personal accounts, including by cofounders Lucille Reyboz and Yusuke Nakanishi, reveals the stories that unfolded along the way and captures the voices of the city’s Kyotographie community, offering insight into the cultural impact this event has had both locally and internationally.
