Born in 1937 in the Osaka area, Hiroko Koshino has been creating clothes and been cognizant of the power of clothing from long before “fashion” and “design” were household words in Japan. Though she began her career in haute couture, she has regularly presented prêt-à-porter collections since the early years of the genre and has for more than six decades pursued singular creative expressions unbound by preexisting conventions. This book offers a complete overview of the internationally acclaimed designer, from pieces from past collections to her passion for painting—an important source of inspiration for her designs—to collaborations with younger artists.
